VOIP - Business

What is VOIP?
VOIP (voice over IP) is an IP telephony term for a set of facilities used to manage the delivery of voice information over the Internet. VOIP involves sending voice information in digital form in discrete packets rather than by using the traditional circuit-committed protocols of the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

Why VOIP?
A major advantage of VOIP and Internet telephony is that it avoids the tolls charged by ordinary telephone service.VOIP is not a new technology and has been around for a number of years. In the past, it has been used mostly by large Companies who have been able to utilise their private networks for voice calls.

Convergence
With convergence of voice and data networks onto a single network infrastructure, coupled with recent South African legislative changes, this now enables businesses to make voice calls over the Internet. A converged network affords your businesses the opportunity to realise substantial telecommunication cost savings by making use of VOIP.
